WEEK 7/8 17th December 2019.

Following the recommendation of the midwife who did the scan on week 5, I booked a follow up appointment about 10 days after to check heart beat. I can not begin to describe the nerve reck that I was prior to that appointment. I was hoping for the best but expecting the worse, as the lyrics on Alphaville from Forever Young…

So when the midwife said that everything looked perfect, I couldn't help but cry. Tears of joy and happiness. I don't think I had ever felt that before. Such a huge relief. There is still a long road ahead to say this pregnancy will be successful but one step at a time and this is another step in the right direction. But the shaking of the body when you cry with you soul makes it difficult to see on the ultrasound, so she asked me to stop so she could finish the examination. And I asked her to repeat that everything was fine because I could not believe it…

And so it was. We left the appointment happy, relieved. J was ecstatic! I still could not believe it was happening. I booked another ultrasound straight away for another few days later but they were closed for the Christmas holidays and it wasn’t possible. The midwife had advised me to book a regular appointment at my local MVC (MödraVård Centrum, the local midwife that follows your pregnancy), so I went on a quest to find one that had a time before the end of the year (all holidays considered) because I was already almost 8 weeks pregnant and if I wanted to do the Nuchal Translucency test (NT, I explain this a bit more in an earlier post) and for that you need to take a blood test in weeks 9-10. In the end the closest one (the one in my neighbourhood) was forced to find me a time, even if they did not have any…
